Food That Gives Back

At Afia, we run the show ourselves, which means our family recipes stay close and we get to think differently about every part of the business. For us, impact isn’t a side project, it’s built into how we grow.

Since 2020, we’ve donated more than 500,000 falafel and kibbeh to families in need while working to employ refugees and support educational opportunities for refugees.

We lead with empathy, take action where it matters, and aim to give our customers something invaluable: more time around the table with the people they love.

No Funny Stuff

If the ingredients don’t translate, we don’t use them! We believe it should be easy for people to understand what is in their food. Afia started with handwritten Arabic recipes, and while we may add local or regional flair from our new home, we make sure Teta can still understand what’s in our food!

By sourcing thoughtfully, reducing waste, and finding better uses for what might otherwise be discarded, we aim to make food in a way that respects both the people who eat it and the world we live in.

Progress over perfection. Always!

Packaging Matters

العين بتاكل قبل التم — you eat with your eyes.

From resealable pouches that keep our falafel fresh to beautifully patterned, lined-paper bowls inspired by Syrian tile, we think carefully about how packaging looks, feels, and functions. Because a great meal starts before the first bite.

Family-Run, People-Centered

Afia is proudly family-owned, female-founded, and majority female-operated. We run Afia the way we’d want our own families to be treated — with honesty, flexibility, and mutual respect. Taking care of the people behind the food isn’t a strategy for us; it’s simply the right thing to do.
